Kenneth Dorner hails from Cleveland, Ohio and has been with Berenato & White since September 2009. Mr. Dorner brings over 37 years of experience in the patent field. He retired from the United States Patent and Trademark Office in 2008 after over 35 years of service and has worked as a registered patent agent prosecuting patent applications since retiring.

Mr. Dorner received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Cleveland State University in 1972. Mr. Dorner began his career in the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in 1972 as a Patent Examiner, was promoted to Supervisory Patent Examiner in 1985, where he trained and supervised Patent Examiners for 13 years. He then served as a Special Programs Examiner where he specialized in Special Laws situations such as Interference proceedings, Reexamination proceedings, Reissue applications, PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) cases and various types of petitions. During his tenure at the USPTO, Mr. Dorner also served as an instructor and lecturer in the Patent Academy and was assigned to details in the Office of Enrollment and Discipline, Office of Deputy Assistant Commissioner, Office of Programming, Planning and Evaluation and Office of Legislative and International Affairs. He was awarded many outstanding ratings and awards for his work at the USPTO, including the Department of Commerce Bronze Medal.

After retiring from the USPTO in 2008, Mr. Dorner has remained active in the patent law field by working as an independent consultant and as an agent for law firms in the metropolitan Washington area.
